The proposed subject – “Turning digital. Probing emerging competences for HUMINT professionals” – searched for interpreting aspects related to the informational environment, digital literacy, digital security and the online footprint, online social engineering, Open Source Intelligence vs. Social Media Intelligence, and generative AI prompting. Starting from the legal setting, identified principles, opportunities and challenges, the concept aimed to set a working framework for designing the profiles of digital competences needed in HUMINT collection, analysis, and operational management from the perspective of a highly-digitalized operational environment, corresponding to the Multi-Domain Operations context.
The students’ teams have been mentored in developing exploratory papers investigating critical aspects regarding the digital literacy in the informational society and the importance of digital competences in intelligence & security organizations, psychological aspects in social engineering, and knowledge development opportunities offered by social media intelligence. Along the experts’ papers on the Bootcamp’s topics, the resulted articles will be part of a proceedings volume that will be published in the second part of the year.
